Why general chemistry functions as a weed-out course
College general chemistry moves roughly three times faster than a high school course, assumes algebra fluency it does not teach, and grades on a small number of high-stakes exams. Can you help me catch up if I'm already behind mid-semester?
Yes, though the plan changes. Mid-semester catch-up means triaging which foundations must be rebuilt and which can be worked around until the break.
Do you cover organic chemistry?
Foundational organic chemistry topics, yes. If your course is deep into advanced synthesis or mechanism-heavy second-semester organic, say so on the intro call and you will get a straight answer about fit rather than a yes.
