How much does chemistry tutoring cost?
One-on-one sessions are $200 per hour, billed per session, with no package to buy up front and no minimum number of weeks. Semester group classes cost considerably less: $75 per student per session for Honors and $110 for AP, for a 90-minute class once a week. The first 20-minute intro call is free. Do you tutor online or in person?
Both. Online sessions run over video with a shared whiteboard and work for students anywhere in the United States. In-person sessions are available in Fremont and the surrounding Tri-City area.
What chemistry courses do you cover?
AP Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, regular high-school chemistry, and college general chemistry including pre-med sequences. Biology and earth science are also available.
How quickly can we start?
Enquiries are answered within one day, and most families have a first session scheduled within a week.
My student is failing right now. Is it too late?
Rarely. Chemistry grades tend to be built from a small number of large assessments, so a single unit turned around can move a semester grade substantially. The honest answer depends on the calendar — that is what the free intro call is for.
Do you run group classes as well as one-on-one tutoring?
Yes. Semester group classes meet for 90 minutes once a week in Fremont and follow the students' own school course through the semester. Honors and college-prep batches are four to eight students at $75 per student per session; AP batches are capped at four students at $110. Students come from high schools across the Tri-City area and are grouped by course and level rather than by school.
What areas do you serve in person?
Fremont primarily, plus Union City, Newark, Milpitas, Hayward, Pleasanton, Dublin and nearby communities. Students further afield work online.
What age or grade levels do you teach?
High school students, typically 10th grade through 12th, and college undergraduates in general chemistry sequences.
Do you teach subjects other than chemistry?
Biology and earth science, yes. Chemistry is the specialism.
How do we pay?
Zelle, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash.
How far in advance do sessions need to be booked?
Weekly slots are held for ongoing students. New enquiries are answered within a day and most families start within the week. Availability tightens sharply in April before AP exams, so booking early for exam season matters.
Can you help with a specific upcoming test rather than ongoing tutoring?
Yes. Single sessions before a unit test are common. Be aware that one session before an exam can improve technique and confidence but cannot rebuild a missing foundation — that takes weeks.
What makes a Ph.D. tutor different from a college student tutor?
A college student who did well in chemistry can show a student how they solved a problem. Someone with a doctorate and ten years of teaching can look at a wrong answer and name the specific misconception that produced it — and knows the half-dozen misconceptions that account for most chemistry failure. That diagnosis is what shortens the process.
Do you help with college applications or course selection?
Not as a service, but a straight opinion on whether a student is ready for AP Chemistry is always free.
